Prisoner mistreated because he asked to attend his mother's funeral
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 26, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Prisoner Luis Ispook Muñoz, 31 years old, whose address is "calle Prado e/ 3 y 4 oeste, No. 1065", became a victim of the criminal and terrorist repressive Cuban system at the service of the dictator Fidel Castro, after requesting to be taken to his mother's funeral who had died on the 17th of February.

Officials Capitán Víctor Reyes Cobas and Andrés Terrero Olivares, after brutally mistreating him took him to a punishment cell, claiming that the prisoner had violated penitentiary regulation, when in reality he had only asked to be with his mother for a little while, one last time, before she was buried.

The dictatorship of Fidel Castro is so diabolical that it not only violates Human Rights but it does not respect and takes satisfaction in the pain and suffering of a man in such a sad and agonizing circumstance as the loss of the one who brought him into the world.

Didn't this dictator have a mother? Or was he immaculately conceived?

How is it possible that this autocrat has dehumanized the repressive system that maintains him in power to the point that it has reached?

That is the reason that once these lackeys without human feelings have concluded their service and are useless to the regime, they become alcoholics, because their conscience weighs on them due to the harm they have caused humanity.

From Guantánamo, Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller, National Delegate of the Democratic Party 30th of November “Frank País”.  Given to Martha Tamargo on the 26th of February, 2002.

Common prisoner's visits suspended due to his non-conformist attitude
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 26, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Common prisoner Jorge Luis Leader Fondin, 30 years old, became the victim of the abuse of power of Captain Víctor Reyes Cobas, who suspended his visits because of the prisoner's non-conformist attitude who does not remain silent as to the constant violations committed there.

This Captain was not satisfied with the suspension of family visits for the prisoner but also after strongly mistreating him he put him a punishment cell under orders of Captain Reinaldo Soler Fernández, head of Ward A-500.

On repeated previous occasions Leader Fondin has been brutally beaten because of his brave attitude in denouncing the cruel and inhumane treatment committed in the provincial prison Combinado Guantánamo, renowned as being one of the most torturous penitentiary centers and in the worst conditions in the country.

He was detained by officers in patrol car number 158 in a place known as "4 motors", close to the town of Ulloa, where this oppositionist was headed.

The military eats well while the people are hungry
By Alexis Pérez Lobo
February 26, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – On February 9th a green Soviet-made truck ZIL 132, tag number UF02 585, went to the military tribunal located in the Municipal Military Committee, located on "calle Paseo, esquina 5 oeste", and unloaded a cow which had been slaughtered so that the military men that work there could eat it, as witnessed by Alberto Martínez Fernández, President of the Political Prisoners and Ex-political Prisoners Club and by the author of the denouncement Alexis Pérez Lobo.

It should not come as a surprise to anyone that the Castrocommunist dictatorship, in order to maintain a monopoly on power, maintains its repressive lackeys well nourished, while children from age 5 through adulthood only eat soy and ground beef peccadillo 2 or 3 times a years.  Incidents such as this should shame the totalitarian and militaristic government of the autocrat Fidel Castro.

Prisoner with chronic asthma in punishment cell
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 22, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Common prisoner, Juan Carlos Balón Céspedes, 29 years old, who suffers with chronic asthma, was grossly mistreated by Major Pablo Reyes Cobas, Head of the Interior Order in the Provincial Prison "Combinado de Guantánamo" and by Doctor Elsa Luisa Pérez in the medical position of the penitentiary.

Balón Céspedes reclaimed his medications (Eminofilina and Salbutamol) to control his asthma crisis and after being verbally offended he was taken to the punishment cell known as "Tolita", where there is no mattress, or water and the bathroom drains are clogged. It is full of rodents, mosquitoes and all kinds of insects.

This torture cell, because of its metallic build, adapts to the temperature of the environment; if it is hot it turns into an oven, if it is cold it turns into a refrigerator.

Balón Céspedes, in spite of his health, has to be in this punishment cell 10 days. A situation which does not matter to the criminal incarcerating system of the tyrant.

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Common prisoner Eliades Sánchez González, 30 years old, who is serving a 4 year sentence in prison, is experiencing serious problems with his eyesight, for which he has been asking for medical attention for several days, and he has been denied same by Captain Víctor Reyes Cobas, re-educator of Company 1 of Ward A-500.

Sánchez González needs to be under a permanent treatment for epilepsy, which has also been denied to him by Dr. Aracelis, who, far from deserving her title, is a criminal at the service of the dictator, Fidel Castro.

17 years old political prisoner in critical condition after contracting leptopirosis in Combinado de Guantánamo.

( GUANTÁNAMO,February 17th)- This past Friday, February 15th, in the weekly broadcast of Radio Revista Lux , an interview was conducted of former political prisoner and President of the Club of former prisoners and political  prisoners of Cuba Alberto Martínez Fernández, who  formally denounced before the International Public Opinion,
to René L. Díaz, President of the FSPECA,  brothers and sisters in the Exile Community, Radio Martí and Radio Mambí, the critical state of health of his 17 year old son Alberto Martínez Martínez, who was transferred to Combinado de Guantánamo this past November 18th, 2001, pending a trial for the "presumed" crime of illegally exiting national territory.

"My son Albertico was released extremely ill, so much so, that at the moment he is hospitalized in critical condition with acute leptopirosis, better known as "rat fever", he also has hepatitis.  I am almost positive that he was released two days before the trial because they knew that my son was going to die in prison"- stated Martínez Fernández.

Presently, he is in floor 5th D, bed # 22 at the Agustino Neto Hospital in the city of Guantánamo. - indicated Martínez Fernandez.

Alberto ( the father) is sending this SOS asking for the support and intercession of all Human Rights Organizations, also from the people and organizations above-mentioned on behalf of his 17 year old son who is being victimized by the State Security in Guantánamo.

Alberto Martinez Martinez at such a young age, wrote a compelling letter to his loving father explaining his reasons for leaving national territory.

This declaration of Alberto Martínez Fernández was broadcasted live from Guantánamo, to the weekly radio program of Lux Magazine.  Given to the Information Bridge Cuba Miami on February 16th, 2002.

The following is from a conversation between Alberto Martínez Fernández, President of the Political Prisoners and Ex-political Prisoners Club in Cuba and Martha Tamargo, on the 15th of February, 2002, regarding Alberto Martinez' son, Alberto Martínez Martínez, 17 years old, who was captured on November 18, 2001, by the Cuban government while trying to reach freedom at the US Naval Base in  Guantánamo.

Yesterday, February 14th, my son appeared at my house - he had been conditionally freed pending his trial date.  This boy came from the prison infected with rat disease (leptopirosis) and hepatitis.  Immediately after his arrival we had to take him to the hospital because he was in very bad condition.  He was in pain and had fever for approximately 14 days.  It appears that the regime has released him so that he would not die inside the prison.

Presently, he is very grave and is on Floor 5D, Bed 22. We, through you, are denouncing before the International Public Opinion so that an intercession will be made for this boy, the only 17 year-old political prisoner in Cuba.  I want to state that the boy's situation is extremely touchy and that the opposition in Cuba very aware of what is going on with him.  We would like for you, as the exile, as our brothers, support us and let everyone know of the abuse which the government is committing against my son.

In reality, they want us to believe that it was a kind gesture on their part to release him until his trial date. In the conditions he is in they have released him so that he would not die in the dungeon prison here in Guantánamo. I know that's the reason they released him - so that he would not die in there. We are available to listen to all of you and to continue supporting you in the same manner that you have all supported us.

My son belongs to the Cuban Youth Movement for Democracy and I am the President of the Political Prisoners and Ex-Political Prisoners Club.  They are unleashing all of their hatred and the force of the dictatorship on this boy.  I wish you could see the condition in which this boy is hospitalized:  swollen, under-weight, extremely high fever, it's terrible, terrible...

THIS IS THE WORST CRIME THAT THEY COULD HAVE EVER COMMITTED - OUT OF SO MANY WHICH THEY HAVE ALREADY COMMITTED!

Handcuffed prisoner is beaten
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller
February 12, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – The common prisoner, Arístides Moya Herrera, 26 years old, was brutally beaten, and is currently serving a 30 year prison term in the prison Combinado de Guantánamo.

The prisoner was handcuffed at the time that the council of prisoners, which is made up of highly dangerous prisoners, under the orders of the Re-educator of Ward 4-A, known as Robertico, brutally beat him and because of the beating his right arm was sprained and his body had bruises on his face, head and his entire body.

The motive for this criminal act against prisoners and in favor of the assassin repressive incarcerating system of the dictator Fidel Castro, was the prisoner Moya Herrera did not allow any of the tyrannical officials of this penitentiary center to humiliate him.

Prisoner injures himself after having demanded his rights
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller
February 13, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Common prisoner Ismael Téllez Pérez, who is presently serving a 25 year sentence, for a crime which corresponding sentence should be 8 years, injected himself in his legs with fecal matter after having complained to the prison officials in the provincial prison Combinado de Guantánamo of this unjust and illegal sentence which violates the constitutional, penitentiary and human laws of this country.

Self-inflicted injuries by prisoners with long sentences have turned into an alarming phenomenon due to the amount of prisoners that try to take their lives because of the state of terror which exists in this prison imposed by the repressive incarcerating system of the dictatorial and tyrannical ruler Fidel Castro.

Constant harassment of peaceful oppositionist
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 11, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Peaceful oppositionist Agustín Civit Ruiz, an active member of Democratic Party 30th of November “Frank País” and activist of the Political Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Club in this city, is the victim of abuse and harassment by the Department of State Security, through the Area Chief First Lieutenant Sergio Fernández Chivas who has been continually repressing him with threats of high fines because of "illicit" meetings in his home, located at "Calle Antonio Saco no. 707, e/ Narciso López y Jesús del Sol".

After appearing for an official summons at the south unit of the National Revolutionary Police, last February 1st, where he was given a warning letter because of his ties to non-governmental organizations associated with Human Rights, he has been frequently visited at his home by the area chief, reminding him in threatening tones about the warning letter given to him at the unit.

They also let him know that if he continues his work as an oppositionist and as a "counterrevolutionary element" that his conduct would be reported to his place of work so that drastic measures could be taken such as his expulsion from his work place.

Political prisoners accuse prison officials of Combinado de Guantanamo prison of being guilty of the death of a prisoner.

Thursday, February 7, 2002.

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Political prisoner Ernesto Lucas Corral Cabrera and members of the Political Presidio "Pedro Luis Boitel", through a letter sent to the Democratic Party 30th of November, accuse:

1. Lt. Cornell Jorge Chediak Pérez, Head of prison.

2.  Major Guillermo Martinez Cespedes, 2nd in Command in the prison.

3. Major Pablo Reyes Cobas, Chief of the Interior Order and Anti-revolt forces inside of the prison.

4. Major Orlenis Russiel Castillo, Ex-head of A-500.

5. Captain Silvestre Obret Herrera, Head of the Department of State Security inside of the prison.

6.Captain Victor Reyes Cobas, Chief of A-500.

And also the officials Andres Terrero Olivares, Gerardo Soza, Fafael Lecaille and the one known as Orduñez, as the ones guilty of the questionable death of the common prisoner Armando Espinosa Vicente, 41 years old, on the 31st of last month, who was found dead in his bed.  As of this time, the cause of his death is yet unknown, while the aforementioned henchmen cynically declare that the death was caused by the prisoner eating a pot of food during late night hours and that he was too full.

We are sure that the death certificate that the legal medicine department emits will reflect the same thing but with the words "death by indigestion".  In this way another of the so many deaths in the prisons of the dictator Fidel Castro will remain unpunished.

* Prisoner in punishment cell is denied food

Thursday, February 7, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Common prisoner Rafael Terrero Olivares, 27 years old, victim of the criminal repressive encarcerating regime of the dictator Fidel Castro, was locked up in the punishment cell of Company No. 5 Ward A-500 by Captain Víctor Reyes Cobas, where he remained from the 1st until the 4th of this month, without giving him any kind of food.

The measure was applied by the aforementioned lackey when the prisoner left his work post to go to the infirmary in search of a pain killer to alleviate a strong pain from his molar.

On the 4th he was taken out of the cell, Terrero Olivares was almost unconscious and practically dehydrated due to lack of water.

The officials Gerardo Sosa and Lescaille, who took the prisoner to the punishment cell and who heard slogans against the dictatorship of Castro, stated after being questioned by family members that they had forgotten that the prisoner was being punished and incarcerated there.

Because of this murderous measure, in violation of Human Rights, characteristic of communist dictatorships, whom have as a guide the autocrat Fidel Castro, who is Satan personified, the political prisoner Ernesto Lucas Corral Cabrera accuses the head of this torturous prison, the most notable of which are as follows:

1. Lt. Cornell Jorge Chediak Pérez, Head of prison.

2. Captain Victor Reyes Cobas, Re-educator of Company No. 1 del A-500 in the provincial prison of Combinado Guantánamo.

3. Captain Silvestre Obret Herrera, Head of the Department of State Security inside of the prison.

4. Major Pablo Reyes Cobas, Chief of the Interior Order and Anti-revolt forces inside of the prison.

5. And all officials who follow orders from the aforementioned assassins, commit criminal Human Rights violations in favor of the totalitarian and militaristic regime of the autocrat Fidel Castro, who applies fascist methods in order to maintain a monopoly on power.

From Guantánamo, Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller, National Delegate of Democratic Party 30 of November "Frank País" and Coordinator of C.O.O.C.E. Given to Martha Tamargo on the 8th day of February, 2002.

Prisoner contracts fever from rats because of deplorable sanitary conditions in the Combinado de Guantanamo Prison.

Thursday, February 7, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – On February 5, 2002, a denouncement was made as to the brutal beating that the prisoner Asterio Bonne Dais received and his subsequent incarceration in a punishment cell without being given medical attention for the injuries he sustained from the beating.  It has just been brought to our attention, from the prison, that the prisoner has come down with the disease Leptopirosis (Rat Fever).  This disease was spread because of the number of rodents that exist in the dark punishment cells and also in Company No. 1 of Ward A-500. Bonne Dais, 26 years old, is serving a 7 year prison sentence, and is the victim of the repressive incarcerating system that in criminal violation of Human Rights and medical ethics, injects prisoners that are sick with water in order to justify their denial of medical treatment.

In this prison, according to denouncements made by prisoners being held in the prison, there exists approximately 100 prisoners infected with this disease, a disease which is brought about because of conditions which are hygienically unsanitary, the scarce and poor nutrition, and on occasions rotten food, and the deficient medical attention to the prisoners.

From Guantánamo, Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller, National Delegate Democratic Party 30th of November “Frank País” and Co-ordinator of C.O.O.C.E.  Given to Martha Tamargo on the 8th day of February, 2002.

Medical attention is still being denied to political prisoner
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 8, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Political prisoner Randy Cabrera Mayor, who is serving a 26 year prison sentence for crimes political in nature, is being victimized by the abuse of power of the prison authorities in the provincial prison Combinado Guantánamo.

Randy, who suffers from kidney stones, and constant colic, has been continually denied medical attention since January 10th, by Major Mayor Pablo Reyes Cobas, Head of the Interior Order of the aforementioned prison, who does not permit the prisoner, in spite of doctor's orders for him to be attended to in the provincial hospital “Agustino Neto”.

This inhumane act is the reason why the prisoner, in act of civil defiance, refuses to wear the prisoner's uniform and does not participate in the forced round table discussions and open tribunals, maintaining a firm attitude against the dictatorship of Fidel Castro and his lackeys.

This same type of measure is being used against the political prisoner Jorge Álvarez Sánchez.

The criminal methods that the repressive and incarcerating system of the dictatorship of Castro applies, maintains the prisoners and the people of Cuba in general in a state of terror.

In contrast to the treatment being given to the 5 spies currently incarcerated in the United States, the political prisoners in Cuba are brutally beaten, denied medical attention, are prohibited from receiving mail, scarce and rotten food, family visits are suspended, female family members are abused,  and religious activities are denied among other things.

Taking into account that these 5 lackeys are serving the biggest terrorist of the world, a dictator that maintains 11 million people economically suffocated, and act under a diabolical communist doctrine which has been incubated by this satanic government.

41 year old prisoner dies in jail
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 8, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Last January 30th, prisoner Armando Espinosa Vicente, 41 years old, was found dead in his bed in Company No. 3 of Ward A-500, the true cause of his death is unknown.

According to the cynical statements made by prison authorities, the prisoner died from being "full", something which is not true, being that there is food is scarce and poorly prepared, the amount that is given in this penitentiary, does not even satisfy the hunger of a two year old child.  The per capita of rice is 60 grams (2 ounces) daily and 80 grams (3 ounces) split between soup-water and beans.

What is true about their statement is that Armando Espinosa in reality could have been full, but he was full of abuse, humiliations, harassment and the continual Human Rights violations which have been committed against him.

He is one more victim added to the never-ending list of crimes committed by the repressive system of the dictator Fidel Castro.

Guantanamo, Cuba, January, 2002
by Eduardo Quintana Arbois

With the triumph of the Cuban revolution, the people of Cuba saw the road which lead to a purely democratic system, without knowing that that road would be immediately truncated and deviated towards a communist dictatorship, with a life-long duration characteristic implanted by the leader himself, utilizing the most vile hypocritical promises and even betrayed the same ideals which had been fought for.

A fight which cost this country so much blood because of the autocrat Fidel Castro, who has been manipulating the human mind and sowing mourning in Cuban families, during 43 years of dictatorship, implementing the most cruel and unscrupulous repressive methods and whom at the commencement assassinated any Cuban that opposed this totalitarian regime, and today, all who oppose it peacefully are repressed and incarcerated under inhumane conditions.

Today, I am in open opposition to Castro’s regime and stemming from the pain that I have inside of me because of the suffering of my family, especially that of my mother and brother, we were witnesses of the horrendous torture of which my father, Emilio Quintana Gonzalez, was a victim, and which would cost him his life in the prison of Boniato, where he served two sentences, one for the crime against the powers of the State and the other against the integrity and stability of the nation.  Because of this:

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, represented by the dictator Fidel Castro, who separated me from my father when I was only 4 years old.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the suffering of my mother, whom after going through rough nights traveling to get to the prison, the henchmen prison wards would not allow her to see my father, without taking into consideration our young age and having been traveling with her.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba and its repressive incarcerating system of Fidel Castro for the cruel tortures that it inflicted upon my father.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba and its repressive incarcerating Cuban system, for the criminal beatings of which my father was the victim.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba for not permitting my mother to take my father in his agonizing state, to die close to his loved ones.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba for the assassination of my father, over a long period of time, whom as a result of the constant beatings, he developed a tumor which cost him his life on the 22nd of February, 1979, at the early age of 36 and having served 13 years incarcerated.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba for having marginalized my family during these long 43 years, depriving us of our rights as citizens.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, which in an act that violates Human Rights, tries to economically strangle me and my family, by not permitting us to have a job.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba of the measures in violation of our rights that it has been taking against me and my family, as it also takes against the normal development of my children who live under pressure and terror.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the constant threats and torturous acts of interrogations to which I am submitted to because my political ideology openly opposes the government.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for all of the victims of the Florida Straits who risk their lives in search of freedom.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the young people that have been riddled with bullets on the frontier perimeter of the North American Base in Guantanamo by boarder patrol troops.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the young people that have lost their lives in the largest mined field in the world which does not serve any military objective, on the frontier perimeter of the North American Naval Base in Guantanamo, because of the effect of these lethal artefacts.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the men, mostly young, who have been mutilated because of the effect of the land mines on the frontier perimeter of Guantanamo.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for maintaining a minefield with the only objective of it being to avoid the exodus of Cubans towards the naval base.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba for the deployment of mercenary troops, under the name of internationalists, to different countries such as Africa and America.  Troops which are obligatory in character which not only sow death in those countries, but also bring mourning to the suffering people of Cuba.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the unjust incarceration of political prisoners.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the inhumane conditions of the Cuban jails and prisons where the prisoners are the victim of the bad prepared and rotten food, the lack of medical attention, constant beatings, unjust punishments and the sexual abuse of female family members of the prisoners.

I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, for the need, hunger, misery, lack of medicine, inhumane evictions, and the inhumane repression to which the Cuban population is submitted.

The totalitarian and militaristic autocrat Fidel Castro, in order to quite popular outcry, applies extremely severe and unscrupulous methods against those that oppose it, with the only objective being to maintain the monopoly on power.  Methods which range from unjust incarceration to assassination, as in the case of Emilio Quintana Gonzalez, who at the mere age of 23 and after only 2 years after the triumph of the dictator, knew what the people of Cuba were in for, with valor, he bravely confronted the criminal dictatorship, by belonging to organizations in open defiance, where men with great valor also know the sad future which awaited Cuba.

Because of them he entered into the Cuban Democratic Movement and the Movement Revolutionary Recuperation, whose only objective was to overthrow of the actual dictatorship before it gained the strength that the totalitarian regime has today.

He was a part of the “Immediate Action Plan” which consisted of executing Raul Castro, during the celebration of the 26th of July in Santiago de Cuba, in 1961.

For that he was sentenced to 20 years of prison, after having petitioned for the death penalty which actually did take place over a long period of time in the prison of Boniato.

For everything that I have expressed, I ACCUSE the government of Cuba, the dictator Fidel Castro as the greatest assassin and violator of Human Rights in the universe.

By Eduardo Quintana Arbois, Director of the Center of Information on Democracy of the Democratic Party 30th of November “Frank Pais”.

Not even syringes for medical tests
By Alexis Pérez Lobo

February 8, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) - Patients were going daily the clinic "Luz Caballero y Paseo" in Guantánamo, for approximately one week during last month, January, to have medical tests done, only to return home indignant and without having the tests done because, according to clinic authorities, there were no chemicals to conduct the tests or syringes.

How can these things occur in a place whose medical field is world renowned?

It is inconceivable if you keep in mind that in order for efficient medical treatments to exist, the compliments to them must also exist.

Prisoner beaten and punished for requesting his benefits
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 7, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Common prisoner, Arterio Bonne Díaz, 26 years old, after having been brutally beaten with the baton of the official known as Gerardo, was taken to the punishment cell in Company 5 Ward A-500.

This criminal act, in violation of Human Rights, committed by this prison official of the provincial prison Combinado Guantánamo, took place because the prisoner, Bonne Díaz, reclaimed his benefit of conditional freedom to Captain Víctor Reyes Cobas, Re-educator of Company 1 Ward A-500.

This Captain, a henchman at the service of the dictator Fidel Castro, expressed that his reason for denying the conditional freedom of the prisoner was because he was undisciplined being that he maintained a friendship with the political prisoner Ernesto Lucas Corral Cabrera.

Bonne Díaz, in critical state because of the beating, was not given any medical attention before he was taken by force to the punishment cell on February 1st, where he remains as of the date of the writing of this report, February 5, 2002.

Prisoners incarcerated far from home as repressive measure
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 6, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – In order to maintain the monopoly on power the torturous repressive regime of the totalitarian and militaristic system of the autocrat Fidel Castro, has been applying methods and measures for the past 43 years that are extremely severe and criminal in order to conserve a state of terror among the general population, including psychological methods that manipulate human minds.

One of the diabolical measures of this repressive regime, is the incarceration of prisoners in prisons far from their place of residence, with the sinister objective of making the prisoner's sentence more cruel by making him suffer more because of the absence of his family.

This sinister method is applied exclusively to political prisoners as in the case of the following political prisoners:

1- Political prisoner Andry Frómeta Cuenca, taken from the prison in Guantánamo to the one in Pinar del Rió, 1075 kilometres away.
2- Leoncio Rodríguez Ponce, taken to the prison in Villa Clara, 648 kilometres from Guantánamo.
3- Ernesto Durand Rodríguez, taken to the prison in Camagüey, 378 kilometres from Guantánamo.
4- Onnis Bárzaga Garrido, taken to the prison in Boniato in Santiago de Cuba, 86 kilometres from Guantánamo.
5- Carlos Luis Díaz Fernández, after being taken to several prisons all around the country, he is currently in the prison of Boniato in Santiago de Cuba, 86 kilometers from Guantánamo.

Being that transportation is so difficult in Cuba, family members arrive late to visiting hours and sometime even on another day, many arrive on time only to be faced with the sad reality that the prisoner's family visit has been suspended as a means of punishment for the prisoner and his family.

The dictator Fidel Castro, in a terrorist act against political prisoners, and with hypocritical and demagogues declarations, criminally deprives these prisoners of their freedom for the sole reason of not accepting forced communist ideology.

Other political prisoners have had worse luck and have been executed because it is suspected that they belong to oppositionist organizations financed by organizations based in exile.

Political prisoners in covered cells
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 6, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – During the early morning hours of February 3rd, political prisoners Ernesto Lucas Corral Cabrera and Jorge Luis Larrazábal Zulueta, were to taken to punishment cells of maximum severity, after having compared, in the presence of the family of prisoners in Ward 3-A of the Provincial Prison Combinado Guantánamo, the living conditions of the 5 Cuban spies being incarcerated in the United States and the inhumane conditions in which the political prisoners incarcerated in the prisons of the dictator Fidel Castro live in.

The punishment cells of maximum severity, known as "tolitas", are mosquito and rat infested, and lack water to drink or with which to bathe.  In addition, due to the character of the cell, which is completely covered with metal, turns it into true center of torture, being that these cells are adaptable to the temperature of the environment, and the prisoner being held in this type of cell is usually mostly naked.  These kinds of cells are fundamentally destined for political prisoners that reclaim their rights.

Captain Jesús González told the family members that were present, that the prisoner Larrazábal Zulueta was crazy, and not to listen to him, while Captain Víctor Reyes Cobas threatened the prisoner Corral Cabrera with taking him before the tribunal.

In Cuba a normal citizen is deprived of all rights that a political prisoner could have, for openly opposing such a criminal dictatorship.

* Political police and the military tribunal rig trial of oppositionists to the regime in Guantánamo.

http://www.puenteinfocubamiami.org/guantanamo.2html

(GUANTÁNAMO, February 5) – The political police in Guantánamo has already prepared the outcome of the political trial of peaceful oppositionists Alexander Lovaina Jiménez and Alberto Martínez Martínez.

The provincial military tribunal of Guantánamo has emitted accusatory conclusions whereby, Jorge Wilson Uñez, First Lieutenant of the State Security Police has concluded that “Alexander Lovaina Jiménez and Alberto Martínez Martínez, both possess a bad political and social attitude" and therefore not adaptable to the system.

Political police documents classify him as immoral.

Lovaina, 31 years old is a member of the Democratic Party November 30, and 17 year old Alberto Martínez belongs to the Youth for Democracy Movement, they both wait to be sanctioned  for the supposed crime of illegal exit.

Alberto Martínez (father) stated that being sanctioned by a military tribunal even though they are civilians, is in accord with the fact that “in Cuba the highest authority is a military one, many of the ministers and Court Officials are in the military and in this case they decided that it should be a military trial”

Political prisoner accuses prison officials from Combinado de Guantánamo as being terrorists
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 3, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) - Political prisoner Ernesto Lucas Corral Cabrera, through Human Rights organizations, accuses the head and officials of the provincial prison
Combinado Guantánamo, for the inhumane conditions to which the prisoners are subjected to in this penitentiary center.

Starting with the denial of medical assistance to prisoners with serious health problems, the denial of blankets with which to protect themselves from the cold humid cells, the scarcity, poorly prepared without any regard for hygiene rotten food, the continual and brutal beating of prisoners, mostly political prisoners, forced labor in inhumane conditions, the prohibition of correspondence from the prisoners to their family and vise-a-versa, the self inflicted injuries of prisoners because of not being given permission to see the chief of prison or to request to see a doctor, and the continuous sexual abuse of female family members of prisoners by corrupt officials of the incarcerating system of the dictator Fidel Castro.

The hired killers that have committed the most violations against Human Rights are as follows:

- Lieutenant Jorge Chediak Pérez, Director of the Provincial Prison Combinado Guantánamo.
- Major Pablo Reyes Cobas, Chief of the Interior Order of the prison, including Antimotín Brigade
- Captain Silvestre Obret Herrera, Head of the Department of State Security in the prison.
- Captain Víctor Reyes Cobas, Chief of Re-Education of Ward A-500 of the Prison Combinado Guantánamo, specifically Company No. 1.
- Official Andrés Terrero Olivares.

These, through abuse of power, direct the rest of the Castro-communist mafia, to commit all kinds of abuse and violations inside of the prison against prisoners being held in this hellish and torturous center, measures which are taken so that this regime of terror can maintain the monopoly on power of the dictatorship of the autocrat Fidel Castro, a dictatorship that becomes more diabolical over time, because Fidel is Satan himself in the form of man.

Leaders of the peaceful opposition detained in Guantánamo
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 2,  2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) - Combined forces of the Department of State Security and the National Revolutionary Police, during the early morning hours of January 28th, unleashed a strong operative against the peaceful opposition in Guantánamo.  There objective was to stop the opposition from rendering homage to the Apostle (of Cuba) on the 149th anniversary of his birth date.

The operative was directed by Ladislao Benítez Denis, Chief of the Department of State Security, Juan (his last name is unknown), Second in Command, Luis (his last name is unknown), Second in Command of the Confrontation Unit, Calviño, Second in Command Olervis Frómeta Velásquez, operative official and several other officials, all of the Department of State Security.  In addition the Pursuit Department and Visual Search Department, both belonging to the State Security, and the patrol and police units also participated

The following peaceful oppositionists were arrested as a result of the operative:

1- Luis Torres Cardosa, independent journalist and member of CONIC.
2- Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller, National Delegate of the Democratic Party 30th of November "Frank País" and Coordinator of COOCE.
3- Alberto Martínez Fernández, President of the Prisoners and Ex-political Prisoners Club in Guantánamo.
4- Luis Díaz Sánchez, Acting President of the Cuban Youth Movement for Democracy.
5- Manuel Donet López, Activist of the Democratic Party 30th of November "Frank País".

It should be noted that last Saturday, the 26th of January, at 2:00 in the afternoon, Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller was stopped on Santa Rita Street, on the corner 10 Norte, by a yellow car, Lada make, tag number NA-4401, of which operative officials Orelvis Frómeta Velásquez and the official known as Bartolo, were passengers, and in the presence of neighbors of the area they detained him and took him to the Third Unit of the National Revolutionary Police, where he was threatened stating that he instigates the peaceful opposition to the point of sedition.  After this strong repression he was taken to a cell, where he remained until 5:40 AM on the 27th, and because of the detention on the 26th, a file was opened labelling him as a high level counterrevolutionary.

This agonizing attitude of Castro's regime demonstrates how scared it is of the peaceful opposition inside of the island, and because of them it applies repressive and extremely severe methods against those that oppose his dictatorship.  It also acts unscrupulously sowing doubt, fear and hatred among oppositionists and the population in general.

Prisoner wounds himself in the Combinado de Guantánamo Prison
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 1, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) -Tired of requesting a blanket from the prison authorities to cover himself with because of the cold in the humid cells of the Combinado de Guantánamo Prison, the common prisoner Crecencio Rivalta Coreya, 40 years old, decided to hurt himself.

His request was addressed to the Captain Jesus González and to the Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Chediak Pérez, head of the penitentiary center.  In spite of having spent nearly two months repeatedly requesting a blanket, a solution had not been given to the matter.  Because of this situation Rivalta Coreya, in an act of civil defiance, commenced a 10 day hunger strike, which culminated on the 27th of January still without an answer, which motivated him to wound himself on his left arm for which 40 stitches were required.

Crecencio has a history of ulcers and chronic gastritis caused by the little amount, poorly made and rotten food which he is given there.  He also has severe psychiatric dysfunctions, which according to the psychiatrist's diagnosis, is because of the repression of which he is a victim in the prison.

Political police attack member of the peaceful opposition
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 1, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – At 5:30 pm, on Monday the 28th of January, a member of the peaceful opposition Francisco Lendis Raymond Díaz became a victim of the persecution and aggression of members of the Department of State Security in this city.

The attack took place when the oppositionist tried video taping with his camera the State Security members which were assigned to all places having a statute of the Apostle (Cuba's) José Martí, where the peaceful opposition tried placing flowers in honor of the 149th anniversary of the Apostle's birth date.

When he realized he had been spotted, he tried fleeing and was followed by a patrol car, Lada make, bearing tag number 886-N-DG-PNR and a Moskovisk, tag number NA-0293.  When the latter of these caught up to him, he hit him with his vehicle and caused him to fall of his bicycle and immediately after falling several military men that were dressed as civilians began beating him until he was unconscious.  They took his bicycle and video camera.  According to witnesses of this criminal beating, they destroyed the video camera before taking it.

At this time Lendis Raymond is hospitalized in intensive care, bed number 23, in the teaching general hospital named "Agustino Neto" in this city with several fractured ribs, fractured clavicle and skull.

Hospital authorities, under pressure by the Department of State Security, do not give the oppositionist's family members a written diagnostic summary of the grave health condition of Francisco Lendis.

This case is another example of the terror implanted in Cuba by the repressive, totalitarian, militaristic and demagogues system of the autocrat Fidel Castro.

Political prisoner brutally beaten
By Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller

February 1, 2002

(Guantánamo, Cuba) – Political prisoner Jorge Álvarez Sánchez, 31 years old, sentenced to 12 years in prison, was brutally beaten last January 27th, by Major Pablo Reyes Cobas, Chief of Interior Order in the provincial prison "Combinado de Guantánamo".

This criminal act occurred in Ward 2-A, where 1st Lieutenant Rogelio, known as "el chino", head of shifts and various officers of the Interior Order also participated, in response to information that supposedly this prisoner is that one that gets information out about another political prisoner and prisoner of conscience Néstor Rodríguez Lobaina.

Criminal acts such as these occur daily in the prisons of the dictator Fidel Castro against political prisoners, while this autocrat himself hypocritically and cynically proclaims that Human Rights are respected in Cuba and spends millions in propaganda and marches to make believable the false innocence of the 5 spies being held in the United States, in cells with the necessary human living conditions, to complete their sentence.

From Guantánamo, Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller, Provincial Delegate of the Democratic Party 30th of November “Frank País”.  Given to Martha Tamargo on the 1st day February, 2002.
